Statement of Swiss-Ukrainian medical group on situation concerning poisoning of President of UkraineIt has come to our attention, that the poisoning of President of Ukraine, Victor Yushchenko, has come under speculation and doubt. We are physicians, who have either provided official analyses of Mr. Yushchenko's state of health, or have been treating physicians or consultants. We can confirm that independent laboratory tests conducted at different facilities confirmed the presence of exceedingly high concentrations of TCDD in the organism of Mr.Yushchenko. The available medical evidence supports that this poisoning is consistent with an oral ingestion. President Yushchenko's symptoms were consistent with dioxin poisoning. There were more than 10 toxicological and forensic medicine tests series done, since September 2004, confirming the poisoning of President of Ukraine. All the tests showed that dioxin level in the organism of President is decreasing. To the present moment 90 % of dioxin is eliminated from the organism of Victor Yushchenko. High-tech molecular medicine technologies were used in the treatment of President. They have allowed to demonstrate for the first time basic mechanism of dioxin toxicity and to identify hydroxylated metabolites of dioxin. This important scientific result of Swiss-Ukrainian medical group was announced on Investigative Dermatology World Society meeting, which was held in Kyoto (Japan) 14-17 May 2008.
