President Yushchenko talks to President ZatlersPresident Victor Yushchenko held phone conversation with President Valdis Zatlers of Latvia today. Sides discussed situation around Russian-Georgain conflict and exchanged opinions on the steps international community should take to secure territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. Beside that the two Presidents discussed bilateral relations between Ukraine and Latvia, as well as European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine. President Yushchenko said that Ukraine hopes for clear signal from the EU on prospects of our country's membeship in the union and pointed to special significance of the twelfth Ukraine-EU Summit, scheduled on September 9.
President Zatlers responded that Latvia continuously supports Ukraine in its search for EU membership and continues to take steps towards realization of that. |
