President: "distortions" in language policy made by former government brought about humiliation of national minorities in Ukraine
Ukrainian language remains official in Ukraine although the "distortions" in language policy made by former government brought about humiliation and infringement of rights of both Russian citizens and representatives of other nationalities in Ukraine, said President Viktor Yanukovych at his today’s meeting with Taras Shevchenko National Prize winners.
"All these things must be corrected and reflected in language policy, including in the process of implementing the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages", he said.
