President urges trade unions to distantiate themselves from politics

At his today’s meeting with representatives of the trade unions of Ukraine, President Viktor Yanukovych urged them to depoliticize their activity to the maximum.

He said that current activity of the trade unions is obviously influenced by politics too much. "I would like trade unions to be engaged in their own affairs and business. We must remove political colors from the unions’ work. There should be no separation into friends and foes", he said.

The President also noted that the meeting is of great importance to him. "I would like to know the situation in labor collectives. Because it reflects the situation in the society and the state", said Viktor Yanukovych.

Among the most often violated workers’ rights President Yanukovych named the right for timely payment of salaries. He also said that he is concerned about current situation with job safety and expressed confidence that reduction of a number of industrial accidents would improve general performance and efficiency of enterprises.

The President drew particular attention to importance of attracting investments into Ukraine. He criticized the situation, when preparation for Euro 2012 finals was conducted without investment component, that is practically only for budgetary funds. "The Government’s main task for today is attracting investments in Euro 2012 projects”, said Viktor Yanukovych.

Also President Yanukovych expressed confidence that all current efforts of state authorities should be aimed at improving the state of economy and revitalizing domestic market.
