President's adress to Ukrainians on the occasion of the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus

Dear compatriots!

I congratulate the entire Ukrainian people on the Day of the Baptism of Kyivan Rus-Ukraine, which is celebrated on July 28, the day of memory of Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Volodymyr.

This holiday, granted to us by God, Mother Church, and history, is celebrated by all the Eastern Christians in our state and beyond.

Christianity has always been that life-giving force for Ukraine that helped surviving difficult times, and the Church, defending the ideals of faith, enriched it with the spirit of holiness and godliness.

Today we continue manifesting the eternal values of our glorious ancestors, preserving the Orthodox faith sources: the Saint Sofia and Kyiv-Pechersk Monastery. That very special spirit of Holy Kyivan Rus with its Orthodox tradition and spirituality is preserved here forever.

The road to happiness and prosperity of our country runs today not only through the economic growth. Deep faith is a carrier of high morality and spirituality and is the key to harmony in our society.

May God protect us all and Ukraine!
