President meets with First Deputy Chairman of Kyiv City State Administration
President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych met in Crimea with the First Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov. At the meeting the officials have discussed major problems in Kyiv, particularly in the housing sector, construction, and utilization of budgetary funds. Oleksandr Popov thanked Viktor Yanukovych for the attention he dedicates to problems of the Ukrainian capital. He noted with regret that a lot of these problems have accumulated in many different sectors and directions. He said that one of the most important problems is inefficient use or misuse of budgetary funds. "We shall put an end to that in Kyiv," he promised. The First Deputy Chairman of Kyiv City Administration also briefed the President on the implementation of programs to address transportation problems in Kyiv. According to him, the construction of interchange on the Moskovska Square will complete by the end of this year, the overpass near the Podil Bridge will be operational already this fall, and the railway crossing is planned to open this year. Separately Oleksandr Popov has informed Viktor Yanukovych on the construction of new subway stations. He said that three new subway stations would be opened this year in Kyiv. Oleksandr Popov also said that reconstruction works at the express tram line are being conducted actively. "We have stirred up this work. The line will be operational in October," he said. The President instructed the Kyiv authorities to dedicate attention to construction and repairing of city roads. He emphasized that these works must be conducted not only in the city’s downtown, but on the outskirts too. Separately President Yanukovych stressed the importance of managing territories near the Dnipro River. Viktor Yanukovych and Oleksandr Popov have discussed social security of Kyiv dwellers, especially in the scope of possible increase of prices for communal services. According to Oleksandr Popov there is "a clear plan to provide additional financial support to those who need it”. In addition, the President of Ukraine and the First Deputy Chairman of the KCSA discussed preparation for the next heating season. |
