President: Modern Ukrainians have much to learn from WWII history

Ukrainians have much to learn from the history of the Second World War, President Viktor Yanukovych said today in an interview, making comments on the fact that today is the 71st anniversary of its beginning.

"The history of this war gives many lessons. First of all, it is patriotic upbringing of youth, which is essential today," Viktor Yanukovych stressed.

The President expressed the belief that every citizen of our country should be aware that its security depends on him, too. He said that we must be able to defend ourselves, so education of the youth today is so important.

Viktor Yanukovych, also emphasized that history cannot be rewritten. "History is the subject, which politicians must not touch. It is written by historians, scientists. History is the foundation for educating new generations," said President Yanukovych.
