President meets leadership of Parliament and deputy fractions
The President met leadership of Parliament and deputy fractions. The meeting was attended by: First Deputy Chairman of Verkhovna Rada Adam Martynyuk, Leader of the Party of Regions fraction Oleksandr Yefremov, Chairman of the parliamentary faction "Reforms for the Future" Igor Rybakov, Leader of the People's Party fraction Igor Sharov, leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine fraction Petro Symonenko, Head of Presidential Administration Serhiy Lyovochkin, Representative of the President at Verkhovna Rada Yuri Miroshnychenko, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Klyuev. “First of all, I invited you to discuss the crisis situation in the Parliament and our actions in this case,” the President said at the beginning of the meeting. “I think that we must do everything for the Parliament to continue its work. We must finish this session and, of course, start the session in September. It is the main task,” the President said at the beginning of the meeting. Viktor Yanukovych didn’t exclude that unless the work of the Parliament can be stabilized, “it will be necessary to start the procedures of early parliamentary elections”. “Still, I think that before starting this procedure we must try all other possibilities. We must hold negotiations in fractions between the deputies. Certainly, we must hold negotiations with the opposition and with the Chairman of Verkhovna Rada,” the President noted. “I guess we cannot discuss any other issues until we finish this process,” he added. The President expressed belief that if the Parliament is able to work today all negotiations should be held in breaks and the work should be under the agenda. “I have never interfered with the work of Verkhovna Rada,” the President said. “But I am interested in stability in the country. For that reason, I do not want to make any prior conclusions regarding the yesterday procedure of adopting the law on state language policy,” Viktor Yanukovych noted. According to the President, he will definitely examine the situation and conduct expertise of the law. “I'll use everything that belongs to the authority of the President in these matters. Only after the examination of all these issues, I will be able to express my opinion and take certain decisions," he said. Additionally:
