On St. Nicholas Day, First Lady of Ukraine Maryna Poroshenko together with her children Oleksandra, Mykhailo and Yevheniya opened the country’s Main Christmas Tree on St. Sophia Square. The solemn event was joined by Kyiv CSA Head Vitali Klitschko and Minister of Culture of Ukraine Yevhen Nyshchuk. The officials congratulated Ukrainians on the beginning of the New Year and Christmas holiday.
The President’s wife emphasized that the passing year added “glory and will” to Ukraine, as the country began to revive and develop: “In 2017, salaries and pensions were increased, the judicial reform was launched, the modernization of the healthcare system began, education started developing drastically, the school of equal opportunities was established, the Ukrainian movie production is being restored. This is only the beginning of great changes,” she said.
Maryna Poroshenko wished that the year 2018 would increase all the achievements and victories, so that we will learn to distinguish good from evil, friends from enemies and real actions from populist slogans. "And then, I'm sure, Ukraine will become even more powerful and successful," Maryna Poroshenko stressed.
