The release of Ukrainian hostages was discussed at all meetings in the framework of the NATO Summit - President

President Petro Poroshenko said at a press conference in Brussels that all his meetings touched upon the issue of the release of Ukrainian hostages and political prisoners held in prisons in Russia or in the occupied territories.

"At each meeting, including the meeting with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan (Turkish President - ed.), which has just ended, the importance of the liberation of the Crimean Tatars was also underlined. And during all these meetings, the issue of hostages was among the priorities," the Head of State said.

Petro Poroshenko said that during his meeting with President of France Emmanuel Macron, he had carefully discussed a large number of cooperation issues, from military-technical cooperation to the release of hostages. According to him, the French President during a meeting with the Russian President on Sunday will raise the issue of the liberation of Ukrainians. Petro Poroshenko also expressed hope that this issue will be discussed in a meeting between the leaders of the United States and Russia in Helsinki.

Petro Poroshenko said that he had held over 15 bilateral meetings during the NATO Summit.

According to the President, negotiations on military-technical cooperation with a number of Allies have also been effectively conducted. "I will not reveal details, but I can say that we have advanced far ahead. We talked about improving and diversifying the advisory support of the Armed Forces, reforming the Armed Forces," he said.
