President: Army holds the line not for the enemy to act in the rear

In three and a half years of armed confrontation with the Russian aggressor, Ukrainian troops, volunteers, and all Ukrainian people have kept the freedom of our state. The Armed Forces of Ukraine and other power units firmly hold the defense in the east of our country. Consequently, the enemy puts an increasing stake in striking in the back, undermining us from inside and destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. Moscow spares no money for that. This was announced by President Petro Poroshenko during a working visit to Lviv region.

“From the height of three and a half years of armed confrontation with the Russian aggressor, we can confidently state that only due to the heroic actions of the Ukrainian army, the support from the volunteers, the entire Ukrainian people, our country survived and retained its freedom. The Armed Forces of Ukraine, our army, the National Guard, and other security units firmly hold the line in the east of our country,” Petro Poroshenko said in his speech during the festivities on the Day of the AFU in theInternational Center for Peacekeeping and Security of Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy in Lviv region.

According to the Head of State, now that we are mature, strengthened, that we have gained experience - they know for sure that we will not be taken by force.

“Hence, the enemy puts an increasing stake in striking in the back, undermining us from inside and destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. I have been repeatedly telling that. Moscow spares no efforts and money for that,” Petro Poroshenko said.

“You know, I thought it was hard for me to be surprised. But what the whole country saw and heard yesterday was shocking for everyone... Of course, I am grateful to the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General's Office for their professional work aimed to protect the national interests and statehood. But what pleases me more is that the Ukrainian people got the hang of that company even before our security officials and therefore ignored the camp under the Verkhovna Rada,” the Head of State said.

Petro Poroshenko emphasized: "The President and the Government, of course, respect the right of people to peaceful protest. It is extremely important that this people's right is protected. And we have been demonstrating this over the past weeks, although the organizers really craved blood and provoked the security forces in every possible way".

The President especially noted the actions of Ukrainian law enforcers who did not submit to provocations, adding that their organizers, according to the intercepted conversations, even complained about this patience to Moscow.

“The army holds the line not for the enemy to act in the rear. We strongly rebuff such attempts and I feel the support of our society in this issue,” Petro Poroshenko stressed.
