“Our strategic partnership is at the very high level, just as the level of trust between the Presidents. And already not 2.5, but 3 hours we spent with Mr. President during the meeting in vis-à-vis format provide all grounds for optimism in the development of all spheres of our bilateral cooperation and multilateral coordination,” President Petro Poroshenko said opening the sixth session of the Ukraine-Turkey High-Level Strategic Council.
The Head of State thanked Turkey and Mr. President for a firm position of support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence, as well as severe non-recognition of the illegal aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in the east of our state and the illegal annexation of Crimea.
“It is very important to promote the restoration of international law and coordinate our actions in this direction. We are grateful to our Turkish partners for the absolutely clear position regarding the prevention of human rights violations in the occupied Crimea and the very clear position of support for the Crimean Tatar people,” the Ukrainian President stressed.
“We would be really interested in increasing Turkish representation in the OSCE SMM. We are grateful for a well-coordinated work of the special monitoring mission headed by the Turkish representative. In the near future, Turkey's support for the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions will be of particular importance to us,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized, noting that the given issue had been discussed during the negotiations.
The Head of State expressed pleasure that over the past year not only high dynamics of political dialogue was ensured, but also the expansion of sectoral contacts and they became more effective. “Including in such sensitive areas as defense, national security, law enforcement. We are satisfied with cooperation in the defense industry, aircraft construction, space area,” he said.
