The President of Ukraine held talks with the President of Turkey

In the framework of the working visit to Turkey, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Leaders of the two countries discussed relevant issues of bilateral cooperation and international agenda.

P.Poroshenko thanked R.T. Erdogan for the unchanging position in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and protection of the rights of the Crimean Tatars.

The President of Ukraine also called on the President of the Republic of Turkey to assist in the liberation of Ukrainian hostages.

The parties expressed support for continuing an intensive political dialogue at the highest level. In particular, the organization of a regular meeting within the framework of the Ukrainian-Turkish High-level Strategic Council, as well as the implementation of the initiative to hold a trilateral summit in the Ukraine-Turkey-Azerbaijan format was discussed.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of completing the negotiation process on the conclusion of a free trade agreement between Ukraine and Turkey.

Presidents of the two countries also exchanged views on ways to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy, aviation and defense spheres.
