Head of State: Everything we saw on the military Parade must be immediately provided to the troops. Otherwise, it is a show-off

Under the chairmanship of President Petro Poroshenko, the National Security and Defense Council is considering a military budget issue.

According to the Head of State, last year the requirement of the Military Strategy and the Law on the National Security to keep the expenditures on the defense and security sector at the level of at least 5% of GDP was fulfilled. "In fact, this year they will amount to 5.36% of GDP... I hope that the level of funding this year will be in percentages not less than the level of funding last year," the President said. He added that not only the law, but also the military and geopolitical situation require the President, Government, Verkhovna Rada, Armed Forces and other security forces to ensure the provision of this level.

Among the priorities, the President mentioned the provision of reliable weapons for the Armed Forces. "Everything we saw on the military Parade must be immediately provided to the troops. Otherwise, it is a show-off. Otherwise, this is not necessary," the Head of State emphasized.

The President once again stressed that the Ukrainian Army is the guarantor of Ukrainian independence. "We used to say earlier that the Budapest memorandum is a guarantor, something else is. No. We are correcting these approaches. The guarantor of our independence is our army," the Head of State emphasized.

Petro Poroshenko said that the Ukrainian defense industry developed cruise missiles, high-precision weapons with an increased range of volley fire systems, the latest armored vehicles, modern ships, the latest electronic warfare systems, the latest communications and much more achieved by selfless work of the Ukrainian defense industry over the last four years, including with the involvement of foreign partners.

In addition, according to the President, Ukraine should take advantage of licensing agreements and decisions on the provision of lethal weapons, from anti-sniper complexes that save lives of Ukrainian warriors to modern counterbattery weapons with a high radius range, from air defense systems to replenishment for our air forces.
