President Petro Poroshenko notes that over the past five years, Ukraine has changed and embarked on the path of development. He emphasizes the importance of preserving the processes of reforming the country and their continuation.
Speaking at the Chernihiv Regional Development Council, the Head of State noted that the direction of Ukraine’s development had been clearly defined by the Revolution of Dignity and millions of people who had come to the streets with a clear demand of integration into the European Union.
"We have made up a clear plan along this path, and this plan has already brought credible results: the creation of the army, the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, including the DCFTA, that compensated for the devastating consequences of the Russian aggression, the hybrid war, when Russia closed its markets for Ukrainian goods and blocked the access to the markets of Central and East Asia," Petro Poroshenko said.
Among the achievements, the President recalled the economic growth over the last 12 quarters in a row, the Tomos of autocephaly and the creation of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine recognized by the Ecumenical Orthodoxy, the decentralization, launched by the President in 2014 and supported by the Ukrainian Government and Parliament, which has obvious success among all the reforms.
"All this has fundamentally changed our entire state. Figuratively speaking, in place of slogans and declarations, we have created a solid foundation for the Ukrainian state. The Church is a spiritual foundation. The army is a security foundation. The economy is a foundation of the welfare of Ukrainian citizens. I emphasize - all this was done during the war and the repelling of the Russian aggression," Petro Poroshenko stated.
However, the Head of State noted that this foundation had been tested to the limit by Russian troops and irresponsible politicians inside the country over the last 5 years.
"But the foundation withstood and we can say that we have created a chance for Ukraine - a great chance to become a great state of free, prosperous and happy people," the President emphasized.
Petro Poroshenko expressed firm conviction that these steps should be continued, despite massive criticism.
“We will not allow anyone to destroy our achievements and mess with Ukraine's freedom and independence. For this end, we must remind ourselves and the people that the rate in the choice we have to make is extremely high and the price of the mistake is also extremely high," the President emphasized.
