President Petro Poroshenko instructed to prepare the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on the imposition of sanctions against Russian oligarchs. It was stated by the Head of State during the joint briefing with Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel following the bilateral talks in the course of his working visit to Germany.
"Several days ago, I instructed the Security Service of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Security and Defense Council, the Secretary of the Council to prepare an appropriate draft decision, which will be submitted to the NSDC meeting in the next few days. And the sanctions will be imposed," the President said, answering the question whether Ukraine will impose sanctions against Russian oligarchs, as the U.S. did, and whether Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska will be included in such a sanction list.
"They will be aligned with the decision of the U.S. Government as much as possible," he said, adding that the given sanctions would also be applied to Mr. Deripaska and other oligarchs, who today are key participants in the Russian processes, including active work in Crimea and supply of weapons to the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
“Of course, Ukraine’s reaction will be rapid and resolute,” Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
