"I would like to express my position in relation to today's court decision. I want to emphasize that according to the law, I as President cannot comment on the court decision . I want to emphasize that Mrs. Suprun has full support of the President of Ukraine," the Head of State said during the speech at the annual meeting of the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. In particular, President of the American Chamber of Commerce Andriy Gunder expressed his concern over today's court decision regarding Acting Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine Ulana Suprun. "We should not stay aside. It is now very important for the Government and business to support a person who managed to implement one of the most progressive reforms and reduce the level of corruption in this field," he said.
"I really appreciate what we did with Mrs. Suprun, together with the Government, together with the Parliament concerning the medical reform. I really appreciate the assistance I receive as President in introducing rural medicine," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
He also said: "To a large extent, when Ukraine rises from the 153rd place in the Doing business rating to the 71st, and we definitely continue to move forward, it is the achievement of our joint team. And I really appreciate that 10 steps by which Ukraine has risen in the Transparency International rating are the achievement of our joint team".
The Head of State is also proud that he has initiated the judicial reform in Ukraine. "The first instance has not yet been reformed. But I have no doubt that the reformed Supreme Court will establish the truth," he said.
"I want to emphasize and remind that the issue of citizenship belongs to the exclusive competence of the President of Ukraine. I recently met with Mrs. Ulana. I emphasize that Mrs. Ulana is a citizen of Ukraine, according to the decree on granting her Ukrainian citizenship signed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko," the President underlined.
