President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Minister for European and Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn.
The parties discussed ways to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine, particularly the implementation of the Minsk agreements. Jean Asselborn shared his impressions from his yesterday's trip to Donbas.
The parties underscored the necessity of full compliance with the ceasefire regime. They also noted the importance of future coordinated international efforts aimed to counter Russian aggressive actions.
The President thanked the Government of Luxembourg for the support of sanctions against the aggressor. The Head of State praised the decision of the Council of the European Union of March 13, 2017 aimed to prolong restrictive measures in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia. Jean Asselborn emphasized that the EU would preserve solidarity with Ukraine in that issue
The President also thanked for the decision of Luxembourg to allocate 500 thousand euros for the implementation of humanitarian projects.
Special attention was paid to the Ukraine-EU cooperation in the context of the implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and functioning of the free trade area.
Jean Asselborn praised Verkhovna Rada’s ratification of the Convention with Luxembourg for the avoidance of double taxation. The parties believe it will facilitate the involvement of new investments in the Ukrainian economy.
