President Petro Poroshenko said that he would submit the bill on the termination of the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation with Russia to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Head of State stated this during the Address in the Verkhovna Rada "On the Internal and External Situation of Ukraine in 2018".
The Head of State stressed that on Monday, he had signed a Decree enacting the decision of the National Security and Defense Council not to continue the Treaty on the so-called friendship with Russia. "The Foreign Ministry will send a note to Moscow and I will submit the relevant bill to the Parliament, because the final decision on this issue must be made by you, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine," Petro Poroshenko said.
The President also stressed: "It is proposed to abolish the provision that allows the deployment of the Black Sea Fleet in Ukraine. After we return Crimea, the Russian base in Sevastopol certainly will not be there anymore".
According to him, in late August, the executive committee of the CIS officially confirmed that Ukraine had closed the representation in the statutory bodies of the so-called Commonwealth.
