President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he had decided to introduce a special legal regime in ten regions of Ukraine in response to a new round of aggression in the Russian Federation. The Head of State said this during the festivities on the occasion of the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which took place in the Mariyinsky Palace.
"Again, I want to emphasize - this is a preventive step, which in no way aims at curtailing the constitutional rights and freedoms of the citizens," the President emphasized.
According to him, martial law "is introduced solely to expand the possibilities of the entire sector of defense and security, first of all the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as to repel the armed aggression against Ukraine by the Russian Federation".
The President stressed that this is why martial law was introduced in the regions located along the Ukrainian-Russian border and the coast of the Azov-Black Sea basin.
"I would like to appeal to you, so that we now fully use all the opportunities that martial law provides to the AFU and the authorities to further increase the combat capabilities of the troops and strengthen the defense capabilities of our state," the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces emphasized.
"We need to keep the powder dry and weapons ready against the backdrop of a sharp increase in the risk of ground widespread military aggression. We are armed with intelligence data and will not allow to catch us off balance," the Head of State emphasized.
