President offered volunteer Ulana Suprun to become Deputy Minister of Health

President Petro Poroshenko met with doctor, volunteer, Director of Humanitarian Initiatives at the Ukrainian World Congress Ulana Suprun.

Petro Poroshenko congratulated Ulana Suprun on the anniversary of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship and offered to work over the improvement of the healthcare system in the Ministry. “Today, situation in the healthcare sphere reaches the level of the national security protection,” the President said. The Head of State noted that he had addressed the Government with a request to appoint her on the post of Deputy Minister of Health.

“I rely on you. Earlier, we have paid attention to the military medicine and our warriors have received medicines, first aid kits and medical services. However, this task is much more ambitious,” the Head of State noted.

According to the Head of State, the top priority is to elaborate and approve the strategy of healthcare reform. The President asked Ulana Suprun to elaborate proposals together with the Government and Parliament and submit them for consideration by the public. The President informed that the draft strategy of healthcare reform would be considered at the NSDC session.

The President called corruption the main challenge for the healthcare sector. “This sector has always been as symbol of corruption: in pharmacology, medical services, purchase of medical equipment and construction of new hospitals. Transparent and efficient expertise will increase social trust,” the Head of State said.

In her turn, Ulana Suprun noted: “If there is a political will, everything will be fine. I think we will manage to overcome a lot of problems with your support”. She agreed with the necessity of rapid elaboration and adoption of the healthcare reform strategy and its presentation to society "for people to understand why the system is changing and have no fear of changes".
