President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a daily meeting with government and law enforcement officials to combat the COVID-19 epidemic.

“This is an unprecedented amount of macro-financial assistance. The EU's decision is not only a manifestation of solidarity in difficult times. This is a testimony that Ukraine made no mistake in making the European choice. After all, a friend in need is a friend indeed,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

More than 70 residential buildings were destroyed or severely damaged by fire as a result of large-scale fires in the Zhytomyr region, nearly fifty people were evacuated. Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Chernyshov reported this at a meeting with the President of Ukraine.

Due to fires in the Zhytomyr region, local authorities are preliminary calculating the damage caused to local residents, and the Cabinet of Ministers will consider the issue of compensation for these losses already this week. Already next week, salary arrears that emerged in some regions will start to be paid to the doctors and other health workers. The arrears will be paid by the subventions included in the new version of the budget.

The President stresses that if people do not observe quarantine during Easter, go to churches and do not take care of their safety and the safety of their loved ones, the COVID-19 outbreak and a significant increase in the number of patients may happen.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the implementation of projects creating additional jobs would be continued. In particular, it is planned to increase funding for the Great Construction program.
