On the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the servicemen on the frontline in the area of the Joint Forces Operation in the Donetsk region.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy inspected the fighting positions and got himself acquainted with the conditions of service. The Head of State honored the fallen heroes on a symbolic alley of remembrance erected at the site of the soldiers' deaths.
The President congratulated the servicemen on their holiday and presented state awards and valuable gifts. He thanked the soldiers for their service.
"It is a great honor for us to thank you for defending the borders of our state, protecting our territorial integrity and our sovereignty," the President said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also thanked the families of the military for giving the heroes confidence and warmth.
"I want to thank you on behalf of every Ukrainian for protecting our lives. Take care of yourself, you are heroes. I am grateful to you," the Head of State said.
The servicemen presented a memorable souvenir to the President - an installation made of fragments of the enemy’s artillery shells.
