President and Norway’s Foreign Minister Discussed Support for the Energy Sector and Ukrainian Warriors, and the Continuation of Efforts to Achieve Peace

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide.

The Head of State thanked Norway and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre personally for all the support for Ukraine from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression and for Norway’s active participation in the Coalition of the Willing.

One of the key topics of discussion was the energy situation in Ukraine. The President informed the Foreign Minister about the daily Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure, particularly energy facilities.

“We are grateful to Norway and the people of your country for such significant support throughout this year. Seven billion just for military support, as well as other projects. We are very grateful for your support after our genuinely major challenges with energy. Thank you for your energy package. And we are grateful for today’s decision. The Minister informed me of an important decision – $400 million,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a dignified peace. The Head of State underscored the importance of the adoption of the Paris Declaration and called it a strong political signal from partners regarding the provision of robust security guarantees for Ukraine.

The President and the Foreign Minister also discussed Norway’s participation in the PURL initiative, which makes it possible to purchase air defense missiles, including for NASAMS systems, and the importance of further developing this initiative.

In addition, the parties discussed the prospects of joint weapons production and other projects in the field of military cooperation.
