President Enacts New National Security and Defense Council Decisions on Synchronizing Ukrainian Sanctions with Relevant EU Measures

1 July 2025 - 16:00

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted three decisions of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) regarding the imposition of sanctions and signed the relevant decrees.

This marks a step toward further aligning Ukrainian sanctions with the decisions of the European Union and constitutes the first stage in implementing the NSDC decision of June 27, 2025, “On Synchronization of Sanctions Pressure by Ukraine, the European Union, and Other G7 Members on the Russian Federation and Affiliated Entities.”

In total, 403 individuals and 188 legal entities have been placed under sanctions. In doing so, Ukraine has aligned its sanctions with the EU’s 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th sanctions packages. Synchronization has also been achieved with the EU’s decision concerning individuals involved in human rights violations in Belarus, as well as decisions adopted by the European Union between 2011 and 2020–2025 targeting individuals involved in human rights violations in the Islamic Republic of Iran and in the military support of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Our state continues to prepare the next sanctions packages to synchronize its sanctions policy with its partners fully. Ukraine expects the international community to ensure the broadest possible reflection and support of Ukrainian sanctions in their respective national decisions.
