In the Donetsk region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the warriors participating in the Dobropillia counteroffensive operation, thanked them for their results, and presented the defenders with state awards.
The warriors are carrying out a counteroffensive in the Pokrovsk and Dobropillia area. Despite heavy fighting, Ukrainian defenders are inflicting significant losses on the Russians and depriving them of the ability to conduct an offensive operation.
The President heard a report from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on the course of the Dobropillia counteroffensive operation, the overall operational situation along the front, and future plans. Since the beginning of the operation, Ukrainian warriors have already liberated 160 square kilometers and seven settlements, while more than 170 square kilometers and nine settlements have been cleared of occupiers. Ukrainian defenders have also captured nearly one hundred Russian invaders. In just recent weeks, Russian losses in this area have exceeded 2,500 soldiers, of whom more than 1,300 were killed.
For the results of these weeks, the President awarded the warriors with the “Cross of Military Merit,” the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, I-III class, the Order “For Courage,” II-III class, and the Order of Princess Olga, III class.
“I am aware of your actions. The Commander-in-Chief has repeatedly reported the details to me. I have personally seen your brothers-in-arms. I want to thank you for your resilience. You truly set an example for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and for all the warriors of our Defense Forces. I am grateful for your bravery. I want to thank your families for supporting you. I wish you all health and resilience,” the President said.
Together with the defenders, the Head of State honored their fallen brothers-in-arms with a moment of silence.
