On the Day of Defenders of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with wounded warriors and medics helping them recover, and presented them with state awards.
The Head of State awarded eight defenders with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd class. They are servicemen of the Land Forces, the Territorial Defense Forces, the 138th Special Purpose Center (countering sabotage and terrorist acts), and the Airborne Assault Forces.
“You are the true defenders of our state. Thank you for being in Ukraine, with Ukraine, for defending and having defended it, for your truly strong service. I congratulate you and thank you for everything. I wish you a speedy recovery. And I also thank your families and loved ones,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The warriors were wounded while carrying out missions in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. Among them is Volodymyr Sytnik, who was released from Russian captivity on April 19 this year. He is currently undergoing treatment for multiple injuries and wounds.
The President also awarded combat medics with the Order of Danylo Halytskyi and the medal “For Military Service to Ukraine.” These medics treat wounded soldiers, take part in evacuations, and provide medical assistance in frontline regions.
“Servicemen defend the whole of Ukraine, and you defend them. Thank you for doing everything possible to save the lives of every soldier, every defender. Thank you for your service,” the Head of State emphasized.
