Ukrainian Bookshelf Launched at the National Library of the Czech Republic

First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska visited the National Library of the Czech Republic, where a Ukrainian bookshelf was officially opened.

The library's leadership regularly hosts themed events related to Ukraine. Currently, an exhibition is underway marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Ukrainian conductor, composer, and ethnographer Oleksandr Koshyts.

Olena Zelenska was introduced to the library’s operations and the Archa project – a system of unique scanners used by the Czech Republic to help Ukraine restore and digitize early printed works damaged by Russian attacks.

Together with the library’s director, Tomáš Foltýn, the First Lady took part in the launch of the Ukrainian bookshelf.

“I’m grateful that the National Library of the Czech Republic is joining our global project, which now includes 50,000 books on 240 shelves across 57 countries and the UNESCO library. Our bookshelves are not only about preserving the Ukrainian language – they foster understanding between countries and cultures, and offer the chance to discover the truth from original sources, free of distortion and stereotypes,” the First Lady concluded.
