President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg.
The Head of State thanked the United States for its support and noted President Trump’s determination to achieve real peace.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of implementing all the results achieved during the joint meeting with European leaders in Washington – political, defense, and economic. The President of Ukraine noted that it had been a successful summit, a demonstration of true unity between Europe and the United States.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Keith Kellogg discussed the ongoing work on building a security architecture for Ukraine, which is currently being developed by the teams of Ukraine, the United States, and partner countries. Ukraine expects that the key foundations of security will be defined in the near future. The President highlighted the readiness of the United States to be part of the security architecture for Ukraine.
The parties also discussed ways to influence Russia to compel it to engage in real negotiations and to end the war. In particular, the discussion concerned sanctions and tariff pressure, the possibility of applying which must remain on the agenda. The Head of State reiterated that Ukraine is ready for negotiations in a format of leaders to resolve key issues, and stressed that the same readiness is needed from Moscow.
Special attention was given to defense cooperation, including preparations for a major arms procurement agreement and an agreement on drones. Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed on the implementation of the PURL initiative, coordinated with NATO, which allows Ukraine to purchase weapons from the United States using partner funding. Work is ongoing to engage additional countries in this program.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Keith Kellogg also discussed the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. The Head of State expressed hope that the United States, President Donald Trump, and First Lady Melania Trump will continue to make personal efforts to bring back all children abducted by Russia.
