President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with CEO of Orascom Investment Holding Naguib Sawiris.

The Egyptian businessman noted that he was glad to talk to the Head of State and tell him about his activities. He expressed an interest in investing in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Naguib Sawiris for his initiative and interest in Ukraine's investment opportunities.

"I heard you’ve been interested in investment opportunities in Ukraine for several years, but did not venture. Now is a very good time,” the President said.

He spoke about the renewal of the Ukrainian Parliament and the formation of a new Government, which, in the President's belief, will allow the implementation of structural reforms in the short term to achieve an economic boom in the country over the next 5 years.

“Our priority is to focus on economic growth, and we understand that this is only possible by attracting foreign investment. Over the 3rd quarter, the Ukrainian economy grew by 4.2%, international rating agencies improve Ukraine's sovereign ratings, and we are rising in the Doing Business rating. All this gives us optimism for further growth,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.

It is also important to carry out structural reforms aimed at attracting investment into the economy, the President stressed.

"I have repeatedly said to investors and our international partners that I would personally protect foreign investments in Ukraine, and the government and parliament are working to create a favorable business climate in our country," he said.

Among the major changes, the Head of State mentioned land reform, privatization, development of digital technologies, telecommunications, financial sector, as well as increased transparency of subsoil use.

“We started the process of privatization from ourselves - the first companies that were transferred for privatization were the companies under the President's Office. These include interesting objects for real estate investment, in particular Ukraine and Dnipro hotels. Since there are a number of very successful tourism and hospitality projects in your portfolio, I would like to invite you to participate in privatization competitions. You may also be interested in tourist sites all over Ukraine,” the President said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also suggested that the businessman consider investing in the banking sector of Ukraine.
