Norway condemns Russia for illegal occupation of Crimea and aggression in Donbas - Joint declaration of partnership between Ukraine and Norway

President Petro Poroshenko says that in the Joint declaration of partnership between Ukraine and Norway signed today with Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, the Norwegian party clearly and unambiguously condemned Russia for the illegal occupation of Crimea and continued aggression in Donbas.

The Head of State thanked Norway for supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence.

“Such a clear position of your country is very important for us today. I am confident that it will become an example for the EU member-states that also recognize Russia the country-aggressor,” Petro Poroshenko said at the joint press conference following the meeting with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway.

During the negotiations, the President informed on the situation in Donbas in details The Prime Minister of Norway reaffirmed the principled position of Norway on the preservation of sanctions against Russia until full restoration of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea.

Petro Poroshenko also informed on the initiative of Ukraine regarding the UN General Assembly’s resolution on the human rights situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and received the assurances of its support from Norway.

The President expressed special gratitude for an extremely broad humanitarian assistance from Norway, inter alia, for the Ukrainian IDPs, which is possible due to the activity of the Norwegian Refugee Council.
