Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov met with Kostyantyn Kholodov, chaplain of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, who presented him with an icon depicting Hetman Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny.
Kostyantyn Kholodov said the icon was painted by artist Alexander Klymenko and his son Herman, who is defending Ukraine on the front lines. It was made in particular from boards taken from an ammunition crate.
“These icons were created to be presented to people who are now defending our country. Just as Petro Konashevych-Sahaidachny once defended Ukraine, fought the occupiers, restored the higher Orthodox hierarchy of the Kyiv Metropolis, and revived many institutions characteristic of a state,” Kostyantyn Kholodov said.
Three such icons have been made in total. They were all consecrated by military chaplains at the grave of Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky in the village of Subotiv, Cherkasy region. One of the icons will be presented to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, and another to Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
