President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese. During the meeting, the leaders signed a bilateral security agreement and discussed energy and humanitarian support for Ukraine, a Drone Deal, and stronger sanctions against Russia.
“The people of Australia have always stood with Ukraine. Thank you for your real and concrete support – military, energy support, which has been critically important, and humanitarian assistance. Once again, thank you for your support and for always standing with us – both politically and geopolitically,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Anthony Albanese noted that the Ukrainian people inspire the world with their courage and resilience in defending against Russian aggression.
“If Russia is allowed to benefit from violating international law through its illegal and immoral invasion of Ukraine, it will set a dangerous precedent for the entire world,” the Prime Minister of Australia added.
Anthony Albanese announced that his country is providing a new $60 million support package for energy, protective equipment, and humanitarian assistance.
The President thanked him for this important support and assured the Prime Minister that Ukraine, in return, is ready to share its experience and technologies.
“Naval drones, ground platforms, and AI-powered systems – all of these go far beyond purely combat applications and can significantly strengthen national security,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders agreed that their teams would work on preparing a Drone Deal.
Particular attention during the meeting was also paid to sanctions pressure on Russia. Australia imposed a new package of sanctions on Russia’s accomplices and shadow fleet vessels.
“This is a very appropriate signal at a time when there are attempts in Europe to remove Putin’s oligarchs from sanctions lists. I thank the Prime Minister, the Government, and all of Australia for their unwavering support,” the Head of State noted.
