Dariia Zarivna and the Ambassador of Lithuania Discuss Strengthening International Cooperation on the Return of Ukrainian Children Abducted by Russia

Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative, Dariia Zarivna, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine, Inga Stanytė-Toločkienė.

Dariia Zarivna briefed the Ambassador on the key areas of the Bring Kids Back UA initiative and its priorities for the year ahead. In particular, they discussed the development of a reintegration system for children returning to Ukraine.

“Bringing a child back to Ukraine is only the first step. A child needs not only safety, but also care, support, and the opportunity to heal,” noted the Chief Operating Officer of Bring Kids Back UA.

Special attention was given to the initial list of abducted children that the Ukrainian side handed over to the Russian Federation’s representatives during negotiations in Istanbul in early June.

“If the Russian side wants to demonstrate the seriousness of its intentions, it must return at least a part of children from the list,” Dariia Zarivna emphasized.

She noted that public support from partner countries could prove decisive in securing the return of these children.

The meeting also addressed the implementation of the Safe Pathways Home initiative as part of the Montreal Pledge.

Both sides acknowledged the importance of international cooperation in identifying the whereabouts of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and in developing new mechanisms for bringing them home.
