In Brussels, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez.
The leaders discussed coordination of positions and steps with Europe regarding the negotiation process with the team of the President of the United States to achieve a dignified peace. The Head of State emphasized that it is important for Europe to be involved at every stage, because peace must guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty and European security.
The President thanked Pedro Sánchez for the continued defense support, including the decision to provide missiles for IRIS-T, as well as participation in the PURL initiative and the SAFE instrument. They also discussed Ukraine’s urgent needs, first and foremost the strengthening of air defense.
The Head of State also noted Spain’s support for all sanctions packages of the European Union against Russia. Ukraine expects the 20th sanctions package to include tough measures against Russia’s banking sector, its shadow fleet, dual-use technologies, Russian oligarchs, and propagandists.
