The meeting took place at a joint initiative of the parties and was aimed at deepening the cooperation of the President's Office, the President's representation in Crimea and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, and coordination of efforts with a view to de-occupy the peninsula and reintegrate it. The meeting was attended by Permanent Representative of the President in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korynevych, leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov, Qurultay delegate Rustem Umerov.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I in Fener, Istanbul.

In the framework of the official visit to Turkey, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the Ukraine-Turkey business forum in Istanbul. The Head of State told the business representatives about the changes planned to implement in the country shortly. He also invited them to join the implementation of the projects that will facilitate the economic growth of Ukraine.

On August 8, in the framework of the official visit to Turkey, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in the Ukraine-Turkey business forum. During his speech, the Head of State emphasized that the last 28 years hadn’t been too successful for Ukraine. And evaluating such a situation, the people of Ukraine have provided the mandate for change to the current President and his team.

In the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the agreement on cooperation within the activity of the bilateral Business Council was signed by the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey and the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

It was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the meeting with journalists following the negotiations with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. “We have agreed on further expansion of trade, economic and investment cooperation. In 2018, our bilateral trade volume amounted to over $ 4 billion. And I am sure that this is far from our potential limit,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced that a mechanism will be found to make Russia responsible for its actions. The Head of State called Turkey one of the partners who can help achieve this goal.

The Presidents focused attention on the development of trade and economic cooperation, and expressed willingness to conclude the negotiations on the Free Trade Area Agreement as soon as possible. The discussions on increasing trade turnover will be continued at the Eighth High Level Strategic Council that will be held this year.

"Yesterday, four our men, young people - all younger than me, did not come back alive ... They were killed. I think it would be fair if we honor the memory of the deceased with a moment of silence,” the Head of State said.

The anthems of the two states were played on the square in front of the Presidential Palace. After that, the Heads of State watched the Turkish Guards of Honor and introduced the members of official delegations.
