In the course of the working trip to Lviv region, President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski.
Speaking to the journalists after the meeting, the Head of State emphasized that there are trust, support, mutual assistance and interaction between the Presidents and the countries.
The President reminded that Ukrainians felt support of Poland since the very first minutes of Russian aggression against Ukraine and annexation of Crimea. It is related to the promotion of the EU’s unity, financial aid and maintenance of military-technical cooperation between the countries.
In the course of the negotiations, the Presidents discussed the issue of bilateral cooperation and coordination of actions with the EU. “Negotiations were productive and constructive,” the President of Ukraine said. Petro Poroshenko expressed confidence that strategic relations will be further developed between the two countries. The President reminded that draft constitutional amendments on decentralization were based on the Polish experience and efficient cooperation with Polish experts facilitated positive evaluation of decentralization process by the Venice Commission.
In his turn, Bronislaw Komorowski reminded that he is about to finish his tenure as President of Poland. He is pleased that one of the last accents of his tenure was the visit to Ukraine. This visit crowns the efforts of the Polish President on the provision of assistance for Ukraine in its European aspirations, as stated by Bronislaw Komorowski.
“Poland supports European aspirations of Ukraine and preservation of its territorial integrity and sovereignty,” the President of Poland said.
Bronislaw Komorowski particularly mentioned that Poland is willing to maintain security in the region jointly with Ukraine. “I am confident that despite changes in Poland, our state will keep on supporting Ukraine in its European integration and maintenance of security on the European continent. Poland will be actively involved in the internal reforms of Ukraine,” the President of Poland said. He is hopeful that there will also be a place for him in these processes.
