A ceremonial burial of unidentified bodies of servicemembers and police officers who were killed as a result of the armed aggression against Ukraine took place at the National Military Memorial Cemetery (NMMC) on Saturday, March 28.
The event was attended by Head of the Office of the President Kyrylo Budanov, Minister for Veterans Affairs Nataliia Kalmykova, Deputy Heads of the Office of the President Iryna Vereshchuk and Viktor Mykyta, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Defense and heads of regional military administrations.
During the ceremony, five unknown defenders who gave their lives for the Motherland were laid to rest. The decision to bury them at the National Military Memorial Cemetery was made by the Poltava, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, and Rivne regional military administrations.
As of today, 242 burials have been carried out at the NMMC, including 172 burials of unidentified defenders of Ukraine.
