We Need Equipment Compatible with Our Power Grid: Companies in Spain and Latin America Can Help – President at a Special Panel of the Ibero-American Summit

It is important that countries around the world do not stop speaking out about the killings and crimes Russia is committing during its full-scale aggression against Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during his address to the participants of a special panel dedicated to Ukraine at the 30th Ibero-American Summit.

Alongside the President of Ukraine and Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez, the special panel was attended by the Presidents of Guatemala, Honduras, and Portugal, the Vice President of Ecuador, the Prime Minister of Andorra, the Foreign Ministers of Panama and Uruguay, and the Deputy Foreign Ministers of Brazil and the Dominican Republic. Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru, and Chile were also represented. In addition, the President of the European Council, the Vice President of the European Commission, and the UN Secretary-General attended the Summit.

“Your countries stand with us, including at the UN – Secretary. You are part of coalitions that help make Ukraine stronger. And you support exactly what the world needs today – countries working together, helping each other, and bringing more peace to the world. We truly appreciate it,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

The President emphasized that it is important for international support for our country to remain strong. And this is necessary not only for Ukraine, as Russia’s war against our country is a global issue.

“If Putin manages to steal part of our land, break our sovereignty, and then – somehow – make it look legal – and get the world to accept it, or even recognize Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia as his territory – this would break the whole system of borders around the world. We must stand by the principles of the UN Charter, and these rules matter for every country – big or small,” the Head of State said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also called on the participants of the Ibero-American Summit to speak out as loudly as possible about the mass killings of our people committed by the aggressor.

“Now, in just one of our Ukrainian villages, where Russians dropped around ten bombs, rescue teams are still digging through the rubble, pulling people out. The village is called Komyshuvakha. And almost the whole world is silent about it. In this one village, in just one day, nearly a hundred people may have been killed by Russian bombs. And this continues only because one person – Putin – does not want to give the order to stop,” the President noted.

The Head of State believes that the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, coordinated jointly with U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, proved one simple thing: when the Russian leader wants the hostilities to stop, they stop. And the same applies to our people held in Russian captivity and Ukrainian children abducted by Russia. Over these years, they have grown up, and now the Russian occupiers have begun sending some of them into the Russian army.

“This is horrible, and it must stop. And the only way to make it stop is to make sure the world knows what is happening. So please, speak up. Make sure the world hears about these crimes. Our team and our diplomats are ready to give you all the information you need,” the President urged.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized that this war has forever changed the technologies of attack and defense. Today, no country can be truly protected without strong unmanned systems, technologies, and electronic warfare capabilities. And this is not only about war, but also about protecting borders, maritime security, protecting territorial waters and exclusive economic zones, mountains, forests, and places that are difficult to control. These technologies can also help save lives during natural disasters.

According to the Head of State, Ukraine can now produce several times more drones than it has funding to finance their production. That is why our country invites every country that wants greater security to cooperate through Drone Deals.

What Ukraine needs most is stronger air defense and everything related to it. One of the main challenges now is Russian attacks on Ukrainian power plants and the power grid. Every power plant in Ukraine has been affected by Russian attacks in one way or another. The broadest possible international cooperation is needed to continue rebuilding and repairing Ukraine’s energy system.

In particular, our country urgently needs more equipment: transformers, power cables, modern electrical equipment, and various generators – diesel and gas-powered. We are interested in transformers from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia, power cables from Chile, as well as electrical equipment, cables, and generators from Spain.

“We need equipment that works with our power grid. And we need it fast. So please support us directly to have connections with your companies, with your production, and get these supplies to Ukraine as quickly as possible,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
