President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the President of the German Bundestag, Julia Klöckner.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Julia Klöckner discussed proposals that could help bring the war to a just and lasting peace. The Head of State emphasized that Russia still shows no intention of taking steps toward peace.
Special emphasis, during the meeting, was placed on the continued defense support for Ukraine. The President thanked Germany for its decision to allocate €7 billion in military aid this year. The parties also addressed the possibility of increasing this amount. Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his expectation of support from the German Parliament.
The Head of State also noted the Bundestag’s approval of constitutional amendments allowing for increased defense spending in Germany. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Julia Klöckner discussed the possibility of direct investments in Ukraine’s defense industry.
Special attention was also given to support for Ukraine on its path toward EU membership.
The President invited Julia Klöckner to visit Ukraine and thanked her for her voice in support of our country.
