In Cyprus, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda.
The Head of State thanked Lithuania for its continued defense assistance. Lithuania plans to make a new contribution to the PURL initiative and is ready to cooperate with Ukraine within the SAFE instrument.
The President of Ukraine also noted the importance of today’s decision to unblock the €90 billion loan and expressed gratitude for the support.
The leaders held a detailed discussion on the development of cooperation in defense production, with a primary focus on cooperation within the Drone Deal format. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s experience in building a system to protect lives should be scaled across all of Europe, and we are ready for such a partnership.
Special attention was also given to Ukraine’s European integration. Our country expects the earliest possible opening of negotiating clusters for accession to the European Union. In the first half of 2027, Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and Ukraine expects corresponding support on all issues related to its full membership in the European Union.
