President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain, Francina Armengol.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the Parliament, the Government, and all the people of Spain for their support for Ukraine. The President of Ukraine noted the political decisions adopted since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, particularly those related to military and humanitarian assistance.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Francina Armengol discussed defense cooperation, with Ukraine’s key priorities being air defense and the development of the PURL and SAFE programs.
Particular attention was paid to the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, as well as efforts to return Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
“Throughout all these difficult weeks, months, and years of war, you have supported us. More than 20 resolutions have been supported by Congress. And we are very grateful for that. We thank you for your decision to support the future Tribunal for the crime of aggression of the Russian Federation. And of course, the issue of our children – this remains an urgent matter,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President of the Congress of Deputies emphasized that Spain will contribute to the return of Ukrainian children and will promote relevant initiatives within the Congress.
The meeting also focused on Ukraine’s European integration path. The President stressed that full EU membership is a reliable security guarantee for Ukraine and for Europe as a whole. Francina Armengol assured continued support from Spain.
“We are working to strengthen our support in various areas, including European integration. We are always ready to help, including with technical aspects. We have been in the European Union for 40 years. Of course, everything we can do, we will do for you. And also at the level of our government, which consistently demonstrates our support,” said the President of the Congress of Deputies of Spain.
