First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska took part in the second annual conference “Recovery. An Ecosystem of Mental Health Care,” dedicated to the first anniversary of the creation of the nationwide network of mental health centers for servicemembers, veterans, and their families, “Recovery.”
“A year has passed since the project was launched, and so much has been done. And this is not only about the number of centers already operating, but also about the fact that the network is adding elements that fit perfectly into our overall puzzle of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program. The project has perfectly complemented the map of services by responding to one of the key needs – helping veterans,” the President’s wife said.
Today, 15 centers in the network are already operating in Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Lutsk, Odesa, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Uzhhorod, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Vinnytsia. Olena Zelenska said that she had personally visited several of these centers.
“I saw how this synergy works, how regions and institutions take pride in having such cooperation. I see how organically this project has become part of support pathways, Days of Joint Action, mental health guides, and the entire recovery system overall,” the First Lady added.
The President’s wife emphasized that it is important to overcome the social stigma around psychological support.
“I am confident that today we are speaking not only about the recovery of a person’s peaceful life. Recovery is about what all of us, as a society, are recovering together: the most important value – the feeling of living among our own people. Dear friends, colleagues, thank you for doing exactly this. And I am grateful that we are doing it together,” Olena Zelenska concluded.
