Support for Ukraine’s European Integration and Strengthening Sanctions Pressure on Russia: Meeting with an Irish Delegation Took Place at the Presidential Office

Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Brusylo held a meeting with an Irish delegation led by Gerard Keown, Political Director at Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Ihor Brusylo thanked Ireland for its consistent support of Ukraine, particularly for the recent decision to allocate more than €35 million in humanitarian aid. The funds will be directed toward building school shelters and a rehabilitation center, as well as reforming school nutrition.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office provided a detailed briefing on the consequences of Russian strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and emphasized the importance of strengthening Ukraine’s capacity to counter such attacks and to rapidly restore critical infrastructure. The Irish representatives reaffirmed their readiness to help enhance Ukraine’s energy resilience.

The discussion also focused on Ireland’s support for Ukraine on its path toward European Union membership. Ihor Brusylo stressed the importance of opening the first negotiating cluster simultaneously for Ukraine and Moldova.

“Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2026 opens new opportunities to accelerate the negotiation process. We look forward to close cooperation during this period for Ukraine’s European future,” he said.

In addition, the parties discussed ways to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia and the use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine’s recovery.

The meeting also addressed the implementation of the Agreement on Support for Ukraine and Cooperation between Ukraine and Ireland. Both sides agreed on a schedule of contacts at the highest level.
