The remains of Colonel Yevhen Konovalets were exhumed at Crooswijk Cemetery in Rotterdam.
At the instruction of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, organizational matters were handled by Kyrylo Budanov and the team of the Office of the President, Andrii Sybiha and the team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Oleksandr Alfyorov and the team of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Vereshchuk, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Netherlands Andriy Kostin, Head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance Oleksandr Alfyorov, representatives of the Ukrainian community in the Netherlands, Plast representatives, the Ukrainian War Veterans Association of Canada and the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada, as well as clergy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
The remains of Yevhen Konovalets will be returned to Ukraine and temporarily reinterred at the National Military Memorial Cemetery. A farewell ceremony will be held at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Kyiv. Further details will be announced separately.
