In New York, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a trilateral meeting with President of Finland Alexander Stubb and Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Støre.
The Head of State noted that Finland and Norway are very strong partners of Ukraine and thanked them for their consistent and systematic support since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
During the meeting, the leaders first and foremost discussed the winter support package and protecting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure from Russian attacks.
“We are working to strengthen air defense as much as possible before winter sets in and to deprive Russia of its bet on ballistic terror,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The President of Ukraine briefed the leaders on the talks and meetings with the American team. The Head of State emphasized that there is no alternative to peace and that Russia must be pressured further – through sanctions and support for Ukraine – so that it learns this too.
The leaders of Ukraine and Finland signed a Drone Deal. This is already the 11th agreement in this special format that Ukraine has concluded with its partners.
“We sign such documents with partners, but first and foremost with true friends, because trust is extremely important. This is about technology and about sharing wartime experience. So this is not simply a contract or an agreement on the sale and purchase of drones. Of course, this is about security – our shared security and joint production,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
Alexander Stubb noted that Finland has already provided Ukraine with 34 support packages. According to the President of Finland, the Finnish people are impressed by how Ukraine has developed its defense production during the war, particularly drone production.
“That is exactly why we began saying that this is not a one-way street where we simply provide something to you. On the contrary, it is a two-way process in which we learn from you. And now, thanks to this agreement, we see cooperation that includes joint production and opportunities for our companies to work together,” Alexander Stubb added.
