The President and the NATO Secretary General Discussed Strengthening Ukraine's Air Defense Against Russian Ballistic Missiles

In Ankara, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

The Head of State thanked Mark Rutte for his personal support and assistance to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefed the NATO Secretary General on the consequences of Russia's attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities. The leaders discussed the protection of Ukrainians from Russian ballistic threats and the need for urgent delivery of missiles for air defense systems.

"Tomorrow, we will discuss a range of issues with President Trump, including this one. Right now, the most important thing is to find a way to get as many missiles for Patriot systems as possible, as quickly as possible. Of course, we see and feel Russia's weakness. But that is not enough. We need more pressure, more anti-ballistic capabilities, and more sanctions against Russia," the Head of State said.

The President and the NATO Secretary General also discussed additional contributions from Allied countries to the PURL initiative and efforts to establish an Anti-Ballistic Coalition. The leaders agreed on steps that will help strengthen capabilities to counter ballistic threats.

Mark Rutte commended the achievements of Ukraine's warriors on the battlefield, who continue to inflict heavy personnel losses on Russia, as well as the results of long-range sanctions.

"What we have seen over the past few months – what you have been doing – is truly impressive. You have been successfully striking Russia's energy infrastructure and its defense infrastructure deep inside Russia. Their advance has now slowed considerably. You have also become much more successful directly on the front line," he said.

The meeting also covered joint weapons production and strengthening defense cooperation between Ukraine and NATO countries.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Mark Rutte agreed to work promptly on all the issues discussed during the meeting.
