The President Discussed Air Defense Strengthening, Radar Deliveries, Joint Production, and the Expansion of the Safe Instrument with Spain’s Minister of Defense

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Spain’s Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, to discuss joint weapons production and defense support.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to Spain’s Ministry of Defense, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, and the Spanish people for their consistent support for Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression. The President noted that his productive visit to Spain a month ago had resulted in multiple agreements.

“I strongly believe that all our agreements will be implemented in the near future. We are, of course, interested in co-producing cutting-edge technologies with Spain. Our team visited Spain regarding our radar agreements – we are eagerly awaiting their delivery to Ukraine and want to test them in real combat conditions,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The President stressed that Ukraine is counting on the expansion of the SAFE instrument and the emergence of new products developed through joint production. This issue, along with strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, was a key focus of the discussions.

The Head of State also thanked Spain for its support of Ukraine’s air defense, in particular with HAWK and Patriot missiles. This equipment is in short supply, which makes Spain’s assistance vital in repelling massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Spain’s Minister of Defense reaffirmed continued support for Ukraine.

“We are aware of the situation, as I had a meeting with the Ukrainian Minister of Defense. I am following developments closely. I can now say that the situation has improved. As you know, we are doing everything possible to help your air defense,” she said.

The President awarded Margarita Robles the Order of Princess Olga, III class, for her significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, her charitable activities, and her efforts to promote our state internationally.
