President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Hakan Fidan.
The Head of State thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for inviting Ukraine to the NATO Summit in Ankara and thanked Türkiye for its support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Hakan Fidan the Order of Merit, II class.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the diplomatic situation and steps that could reinvigorate efforts to achieve peace. Hakan Fidan provided an update on Türkiye’s efforts in this area.
“We have held several meetings in Türkiye, and we truly want peace for our country. I hope that together we will be able to do everything possible to stop this war,” the Head of State emphasized.
The President briefed the Minister on the situation on the battlefield, where Ukraine is strengthening its positions, as well as on the enemy’s heavy losses. They also separately discussed Ukraine’s long-range sanctions and public sentiment in Russia, where parliamentary elections are due to take place in two months.
The Head of State and the Turkish Foreign Minister also discussed the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Türkiye, which the Verkhovna Rada ratified on July 14.
Hakan Fidan thanked Ukraine for bilateral cooperation in various areas.
