The President Discussed the Security Situation, Road Repairs, and Increasing the Number of Schools with Representatives of the Rivne, Volyn, and Zhytomyr Communities

In the Rivne region, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with heads of regional military administrations and territorial communities from the Rivne, Zhytomyr, and Volyn regions, as well as members of parliament representing these regions. Government officials joined both in person and online.

The Head of State discussed with participants the current security situation and the importance of being prepared for any possible threats.

“We are looking closely at the north right now based on various intelligence signals. We must be strong. The Russians will achieve nothing, that is certain. It is extremely important to approach this professionally — to have the necessary number of troops, equipment, personnel, fortifications, and all-around defense. The tasks are absolutely clear,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President noted that the state will help finance the construction of fortifications and increase personnel numbers in these directions. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian warriors know what they must do and have the relevant tasks approved at a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

Attention was also given to road reconstruction and the provision of school buses. Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration – Minister for Communities and Territories Development  Oleksii Kuleba reported that 30% of roads in the Rivne region have already been restored. The Head of State stressed the importance of continuing this work, particularly repairing roads that provide access to educational institutions.

The meeting also addressed the possibility of increasing the number of schools in the Rivne region, where the birth rate is high and there are not enough places for students. Communities in the Rivne region asked for a targeted state budget subvention to complete the construction and reconstruction of schools whose projects began before the full-scale war. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that these issues will also be worked out.

Other important topics included implementing resilience plans, expanding the free school meals program for pupils in grades 1–11, and increasing support for veterans. The President gave the Government a clear instruction to ensure that, from September 1, all schoolchildren receive free hot meals.
